Four Reasons to Book your Venue First

Wedding planning is a web of tasks, to dos, and checklists built of innumerable possible paths to the center, wedding day. I have four main reasons why booking your venue should be at the top of your list, no matter what path you take in planning.

1. Your Guest List
Every venue is going to have a different maximum capacity that they allow for weddings. They also can vary vastly in pricing. Both are going to define how big or small your invite list can be.
2. Restrictions and Extras
Each venue is going to have their own rules and restrictions, as well as extras and amenities. Some may have tables and chairs included in their rental rate, while others will require you rent them elsewhere (an extra cost!). You may be restricted on which vendors you are allowed to hire, or what decor you are allowed to have. It's important to know these details before you begin planning.
3. Layout, Flow and Design
Your venue is the base on which your wedding is built. What and how much you need to decorate, the colors you choose to use, the feeling and atmosphere your wedding will have all will be determined by the space it is taking place in. The venue is truly the most important piece in knowing what is next in you web of planning.
4. Your Wedding Date
This is the most important reason! If you've booked all your vendors first
You are going to have a really hard time finding a venue you love on a date you want unless you are planning your wedding two years in advance. Prime wedding dates (June - September) fill up quickly at the most popular venues. If you begin planning your summer wedding the winter prior to your wedding, you have a very small chance of finding an open Saturday, let alone the date you want. Go in looking for your venue with a season, month, or weekend in mind, but don't be dead set on that date if you really love the place.
